You should be okay, 9600 doesn't use too much more than 8600.

I'd say you're well past due for a PSU upgrade though.

You mean that psu has that second plug for monitor?
Almost none of the modern psus utilise that anymore.

Either way I doubt that psu could really provide the amps it states on the label.
Something like a Earthwatts 380 unit would work ealily and it has 27amps on the 12v rail, its fairly cheap also.

Your system probably doesn't need much power so it might be alright, I would not risk it though.

i'm using a ups along with a surge protecter, does it really help ? is there any risk of frying the whole system by under powering ? i guess those high end vga's have the ability to switch to low power mode when insufficient power is detected. is it true ? if so i can simply try the new vga card (just to confirm) before replacing the psu. please advice me.. a new branded psu will cost me $70 (minimum) Thanks a lot for replying :)

Does your PSU have a 6-pin PCIe connector? If so, then it should probably work. No guarantees as to how stable it will be, or how long your components will last while being powered by that PSU.

I'm thinking maybe it's an Apex Allied ATX450-P4 model. Hard to find info on the net about it though. I wouldn't use that PSU to power my system, but fortunately it's relatively easy to find lower priced, good quality PSU's here in the US.

I would not recommend it. The minimum recommended power for a 9600 GT is around 26A.

I wouldn't chance it with that PSU. An EarthWatts 380 would be a nice fit for that, and they've been on/off sale over the past few weeks down to as low as 29.99 with FS from the Egg.
