Can I upgrade the CPU in my old HP laptop?

I did a little bit of searching, but haven't found out anything that tells me what is the fastest CPU that I can put in my laptop.

It's an HP Pavilion Notebook ze4101. On ebay, a seller listed it as a
Mobile AMD Athlon XP 1500+ / 1.33 GHz. It takes Laptop DDR 2100.

What's the best way to find this out?

Thanks,
JC

Thanks ScrapSillicon.

I have that pdf as well, but it doesn't list processor options for my particular model. It only lists Intel chips for the ze4100 series and mine has an AMD.

But, you're basically saying, don't bother with upgrading it, correct?

Exactly; if you need to, upgrade the RAM, do a clean install of your OS, and hope for the best. If performance is still lagging, sell your laptop (it should fetch a couple hundred in good condition) and buy any $400-$500 laptop on the market; most are dual-core and a lot faster.
