Can I upgrade an OEM version of Vista x32?

I'm looking to buy 2 more gigs of ram, so I know I need x64 vista. The problem is that I bought the Ultimate x32 OEM version. I'm not aware of the policy MS has with OEM products, but I think I should be able to upgrade for a lower price instead of having to order a new x64 vista box.

Can anyone confirm if this is possible? I've tried upgrading through the MS site but it says my product key doesn't have an offer on it.

According to the license you are not entitled to a 64 bit CD as you are on a retail version. I have heard of some people having success with installing a 64 bit OEM Windows Vista and using their key from a 32 bit DVD. If you have a spare hard drive and access to a 64 bit OEM DVD, you might want to test it out and see if it will work in your case.

If it works, just use a imaging program like Norton Ghost to make an image of a fresh install and then return the 64 bit DVD to the rightful owner.
