I have a frozen pixel on my LCD. It's always red.

I've heard that you can "wake up" dead pixels by leaving the screen on or rubbing a Q-tip over it. Does the same apply to frozen pixels?

I woundn't think so, they are physicaly faulty so I don't think there is much you can do about frozern on or dead pixels.

However I'm not a LCD repair erson so I could be incorrect.

It can sometimes make them less bright. It can also sometimes make them worse.

Rubbing the stuck pixel on my IBM ThinkPad made it noticeably less bright.

A faulty transistor typically causes dead pixels. Since transistors are solid state devices repairing them is impossible. Rubbing the screen can affect the LCD molecules themselves (Basically you are damaging them) so they do not twist properly. This can cause them to become dim. I do not recommend this approach you may damage surrounding cells creating a bigger problem.
