Can I turn this hardware into a Hackintosh?

I have done absolutely no hard research on Hackintoshs to date. I just bought three new Macs, so I am not looking to spend any more (or a lot of) money) on this project.

So, with that in mind:

I have the following. Before I even try, I was wondering if I can turn this hardware into a Hackintosh?

Shuttle SD11G5
Pentium M 734 (1.7 GHz)
Corsair VS PC4200 512mb
Seagate Barracuda 7200.7 120 GB
Lite On DVD+/-RW SOHW-1213S

Thanks.

I think those are PATA. :(

OK, so what if I got a SATA HD and Optical?

It'll work- not sure about IDE, but it'll definitely work with SATA.

The only thing is you can't do a vanilla (or Retail) install with a Pentium M. You'll have to use a downloaded 'distro' installer that allows you to select a patched kernel for SSE2. (It was an option in earlier distros like Kalyway and Leo4All in the 10.5.2 days, but I'm not sure about newer ones.)

Also- not sure about the graphics chipset, if it'll run with full Core Image/Quartz Extreme or not. If it's Intel 950, it'll work. If it's something else, it likely won't. If you've got a PCIe slot, you could get a low-end graphic card like the 7300GT..

I'm using a PATA optical drive on my hack and its been working just fine, very stable so far.

Where do I get a "downloaded 'distro' installer"?

Look around for iAtkos v7, or iPC 10.5.6.

Keep in mind, AMD or SSE2 systems (Pentium M) = use Voodoo Kernel 9.5.0

A damn. I was wrong (again):
I just opened up the Shuttle and it is all IDE.

Am I screwed?

I did manage to download the Kalyway Leopard iso, though.

If you use Kalyway, and don't update beyond 10.5.4 or 10.5.5, (I'm not sure which one of the top of my head) you can use IDE. Either 10.5.4 or 10.5.5 had a weird issue where IDE drives caused kernel panics.
