Can I tell what kind of memory I have via Windows?

My Media PC is a P4 1.9Ghz but I don't remember what kind of memory it takes. It's in my entertainment cabinet and I don't want to disconnect everything and pull it out just to pop the lid to see what kind of memory it has.

Is there a way I can tell what kind of memory I have in my PC via a software program?

Thanks.

Yes, go to this web site and download Cpu-z.

Cool, thanks.

Anyone have a couple 1 gig sticks of DDR memory? ha ha.

Also found out I can just go to www.crucial.com and they have a memory scanner right on their home page. That told me what I have and also what I can use. pretty cool.

Yeah, that's a great tool they offer. I use it frequently for laptops people bring me needing more memory (like my boss's daughter's Dell that shipped with 512MB and Vista -- ouch!). The fact that they tell you what memory works and guarantee compatibility is enough of a benefit that I don't worry about the slightly higher cost versus other online suppliers.

i'm in the same boat.. glad I came across this thread.

now, to convince my wife to run the scanner for me since I'm at work.
