Can I switch plan with Verizon wireless?

Have you ordered a Verizon cellphone with a single plan from Amazon.com and then later on have Verizon transfer that phone to your existing family plan? I just thought I'd get a consensus on this since I'm getting conflicting answers from Amazon.com and Verizon when I asked?

as long as you stay with VZW, they shouldn't penalize you. Anytime you change plans though they make you renew your contract. We just went from individual plan to share plans and it locked us in for another 2 years from that date.

They shouldn't have, its not VZW's policy. If you are out of contract going month to month and want to change plans at that point if you change plans you will be renewed to a one or two year contract.
