Can I switch mobo's without reformatting?

It will still probably work. I would still recommend formating sooner than later, just to make sure things run as fast as they can.

I would still reformat. Some stuff might not work properly. No sense in buying a new board if it doesn't perform as fast and well as it's supposed to.

Personally I'd reformat too. After you reformat and install Windows. About 1 week after your fresh install, ghost your files onto a DVD. Then you can always load up your OS and "settings" without a hassle.

reformat. I was in the same boat as you a few months ago. Not worth it, Windows sucks at keeping things working well and youll get all kinds of new hardware found alerts im sure, juts way more of a pain in the ass then its worth. hd's are cheap, buy a cheapy, move your stuff over and back it all up, then reinstall
