Can I swap my 300Watt PSU for the new Enermax 431watts??

Are all PSU the same size? I'm thinking of changing my 300Watt PSU which is bout a year old to the new Enermax to provide enough power for my pc. Are all the PSU the same size? What PSU do you suggest?? I'm looking for a budget buy. 🙂

As long as the old one was ATX, yes. The Enermax is obviously top quality but Sparkle is also a good choice.

ATX is ATX. How much stuff RU running? Sparkle makes nice PS's. But it's hard to argue w/a 431w Enermax! 🙂

Enermax != Budget buy?? 🙁

What is a budget buy then?

I'm running A DVD drive, A CD-RW, 2 Harddisk drive, 1 Zip250 and soon, A 1.2Ghz CPU. I'm also looking to put at least two 80 mm fans below the ATX PSU. WOuld 300 watt be enough? I'm also looking forward to o.c my CPU to 1.4ghz

Judging by your rig you have listed, a 300w is plenty for what you are running, you could even add some stuff and still be fine. I would spend your money on something else but that's just my opinion.

Instability can be attributed to PSU but that's less than 10% of the time! Most instability is caused more by softwares and drivers rather than hardware. Instability attributed to PSU are usually hang ups or lock ups after a few minutes of running the system. Sometimes this is so bad it will not even finish booting the OS or worse when you re-start your system it won't boot at all. Try system cleaners like RegClean, Easy Cleaners, SysClean and also updating drivers if you keep getting BSOD. If you are experiencing lock ups then you can start looking on the hardware side like PSU or even IRQ conflicts.

Turbo cool makes awesome Power Supplies, the most overlooked thing in most sytems is a really good Power suppy, theirs has auto detect voltage with line conditioning and a 5 year warrenty.
300w, 425w, 450w, 600w or more.Go Here to read more
