Ok, this might seem really stupid but damn it I'm pissed off. I was wondering does anyone know if I would be able to sue the city I live in for retarded fax calls about every 15 minutes? I have a city fax machine calling me non stop. I've called the city multiple times and no one helps me at all. I tell them I'm receiving fax calls all day and they just say "oh well". It's horrible because it'll go for days on end, then it will stop for a couple weeks and then it will start up again (of course I call the city and they are no help). The fax machine calls all through the night if I don't take the phone off the hook. I did some searching and saw a person won 40K for recieiving 16 junk faxes (hell I'll be a millionaire at $2,500/fax). Does anyone have any experience with this?

if you've already told them to stop, and the police have record
you could very well have yourself a good case!

Can you hook one up? maybe if you get some of them you'd at least have some backing if you wanted to pursue suing them not that I agree with that.

I don't have one. I really don't like the idea of sueing, but this is just getting ridiculous. No one at the city offices seem to help me out at all.

In this case I'd suggest talking to a lawyer if anything to to just have him write them some sort of cease and desist letter of some sort.
 
That poissibly could be considered spam and there is a law going into effect in 2005 regarding junk faxes. This might apply.
 
Is it possible they're tring to fax you something and the fax machine is automatically resending it? Can you borrow a fax machine for a day or hook up your computer to receive the fax? It doesn't make up for the city not helping you, but it might stop the faxes.

Don't you have a computer?
There's plenty of software so you can use a phone modem as a fax machine through your computer.
Receive the faxes, save the files... maybe there will be something interesting to make it worth your while.
Otherwise, use your computer to send a 500 page fax of black paper.

Now why the heck would they be trying to fax him something if he didnt have a fax machine? seems pretty fvucking dumb to me.

Odds are his number is one off from someone who has a fax machine. The person on the other end has the number wrong.


I would call the police to complain. Also call the phone company to complain.
 
I am called twice/day (5+ on friday night) by people looking for pizza, but damn what you're going through would be far, fAR more annoying!
