Can I substitute a metal pan or something for a glass casserole?

I'm making some rice/chicken/broccoli casserole and I really dont' want to amend the recipe at this point (just realized I have a 7"x11" casserole dish, not the slightly larger one).

I think if you use metal you need to be especially careful not to burn the edges of the casserole. I know just about nothing about cooking, though :)

In general *NO*. Glass takes forever to heat up and cool down. Metal is the opposite. Most casserole recepies take this into account, so make sure you don't end up burning it.

I've heard to set the temp about 25 degrees lower when using a metal pan versus a glass one

I guess if you don't have a glass pan, then you don't have much of a choice. Let us know how it turns out.
