Can I Share a DSL Connection off a Switch

I have a linksys 5port switch (model ezxs55w) and i wanna share my telocity DSL with my computer downstairs and my laptop a total of 3 computers

Depends on what your DSL "modem" really is. If it's really a router that supports DHCP (not absolutely necessary) and NAT (necessary unless your ISP provides more than one IP & is in bridging mode), then yes, most likely it will work.

If it's a PPPoE device (winmodem, for all practical purposes), then no it probably won't work.

I don't know if your switch willwork but Lynksys makes a 4 port router that rocks. I now have peace in the house. With 3 machines hooked up. Works as a firewall as well and you can hookup 256 PC's to 1 account.

I have a home network (peer to peer) with three (sometimes more) computers on it connected together with a SMC switch.

My DSL modem (pppoe protocol) is plugged into the switch.

Each computer has the DSL modem pppoe software installed on it.

My isp (earthlink) allows me to have up to three (dynamic) i.p. addresses so up to three of my computers can be online at once.
