Can I setup an AT&T phone w/ int'l service without a contract?

I have a blackberry bold that is not activated and not under contract. I'd like to set it up for month to month for a user who needs to go international for a few weeks.

I called and talked to sales and they said no - that I have no sign a contract for this.


Thoughts? Is there a pre-paid international blackberry service? I'm hesitant to deal with the prepaid sims because the phone does need rim services...

The only prepaid/gophone internatinal plans I can find work in Mexico and no other countries.
