I want to set up a network with 2 PC's and 2 iMacs. I created a home network on my main PC (XP Home edition), but it didn't see my iMacs in the network.

Anyone know if this can be done?

it sure can! But before I answer your question more directly what version of Mac OS are you running?

well, I'm going to assume that the 8.6 is an oldschool imac without the slot load so you're pretty limited on your upgrade options there. I would highly recommend upgrading the OS9 mac to OS10.2 jaguar has some AMAZING networking abilities and uses some great unix (linux) windows compatibility software ala samba. Anyway, short of upgrading to 10.2 I will point you here. That information is also correct for XP. If you don't want to be bothered with any of that you might want to look at
this.

what are you trying to do on the network?

To share files etc you'll either need OSX 10.2 for the mac or each computer needs a copy of Timbuktu pro.

Is there a site which explains to me on how to do it step-by-step? The iMacs belong to my parents and I don't know Mac's all that well.

I just want them to be networked together for file and printer sharing....
