Can I set my comp to turn off my CCFL when I go to standby?

Hey is this possible? I want to be able to keep my comp on w/o having to unplug my CCFL when I want to sleep.

put a switch on the circuit and place the switch somewhere on the outside of the case, or prepare to do a lot of fancy relay wiring, along with some sort of interface......................

Yeah, this is definitely hardware work, not OS stuff. Like skyking said, you would need to wire up a circuit of some sort on a breadboard or something, hook up to a hardware interface (serial port probably), and write a little program to control the circuit. If you're really serious about this, I'd check out sites like hardocp - they're more into this kind of thing than people around here.

well, you have fans that turn off when they aren't needed, maybe you can wire up the ccfl the same way. not EXACTLY what you are going for, but close? otherwise just hook up a switch, much easier!
