I want to try my XP 2100+ Thoroughbred chip in my ASUS A7V-133 motherboard and just try and see if it works. I will not overclock it until I prove it does work. Can I mess up the CPU by just installing it and trying to see if is compatible with my motherboard? Do I need to adjust the voltage or anything when I install the CPU? Thanks.

nope... it won't mess up...

just use default settings for everything and you'll be fine...

... i dunno if that board supports mult of 13x so the speed might not make it to 1.73 ghz

or check for a bios update...

update bios and go for it

go to bios first with old cpu, set everything to defaults, restart....shutdown (press pwr for however many seconds) and install new chip, bootup, and it should work
