Question Can I schedule Chrome update download time?

IGBT

The constant stream of Chrome updates are necessary I understand that but can download update times be scheduled so it happens at a time that doesn't interfere with production?

I think you can only do this if you sign up for Google Cloud Management which is part of their enterprise offerings. At one time, it was $100 per month per instance, I don't know what it is now. You get Google Chrome Cloud Management free with this. It allows you complete control of the updating of the browser (even turning it off if you want to, which is a no-no for us lowly peons).

The only other thing I could think of is to maybe schedule a task to launch and close Chrome after midnight each night in hopes of limiting need for daily updates?

Thats why I dont use google anymore. You can’t really schedule them per se, but you can definitely manage them better. One way is to manually check for updates during your downtime, instead of letting them autoupdate whenever they want. Just go to the “About Google Chrome” section in the settings when you're ready, and it’ll trigger the update on your terms. Alternatively, if you’re on Windows, you can set group policies to delay automatic updates. It's not as straightforward as scheduling, but it gives you some control over when Chrome decides to update. I hope that helps, my friend! Good luck!
