Neither for the long term. Just brought an acquaintance home from hospital who was diagnosed with latestage Cirrhosis and told brain was within a knat's eyelash of melting, which it could do in almost no time and without symptoms.

Actually I take my former statement back. Gin is one of 2 drinks that makes me want to puke. The other is Georgia Moon Corn Whiskey

Trust me, you don't want it. It's basically moonshine. Doesn't even come in a bottle, it comes in a mason jar. It's NASTY. Worst drink ever.

Details- how old, how hard a drinker? That's so sad...

SoCo is at the top of my list, too.

As to the original question, I'm not a big gin fan, but I would recommend going with a really good gin to start, like Tanqueray. Gin isn't like vodka... you can drown cheap vodka in mixers, etc. Cheap gin simply tastes disgusting in whatever you add it to.

Southern Comfort is on the top of my list too. I got sick off that stuff once, and I can't even think about drinking it now.

Gin and Vodka both suck (one exception is the occasional vodka for a fuzzy navel)......Crown Royal on the rocks is really the only way to go!! :D
