sorry if this has been beaten to death, but i did do a search.

anyways, my system is a little older:

AMD AthlonXP 2100+
Epox 8RDA+ mobo
1GB RAM
video card definitely needs upgrading. so old, i won't even list it :p
300GB+ HD

with all the hype of Vista, i'm curious if i need to upgrade my system. i read the minimum requirements on Microsoft's site, but those seem pretty low.

haha, just run beryl and forget about windows... :)
id say you could use a bit of a cpu upgrade though. All the good graphics cards are pci-e. Only agp ones with enuf mem are 6800 gt/xt something with 256+ or 7600 or 7800 agp models, im not a fan of ATI but an x800+ would be fine. Recommened 256 mb gfx memory. I'd save the money and let vista pan out a little, then by summer you should have enuf cash saved for a whole new rig, you don't really wanna hop on vista prematurely do you?

i've been more than happy w/ XP Pro for the past few years. i haven't had to reinstall or had any major problems.

my system does "feel" a little slow lately and i've been thinking of doing a fresh XP reinstall (w/ my time off this week). so, no, i won't be jumping on the Vista bandwagon too early......just curious :)

and the new eye candy looks fun :p

Honestly, forget about it. !GB RAM is minimum, your CPU usage is going to be skyrocket, like running Win XP on Pentium II.

yeah id have to say just save up and get a new pc when the time is right, or clean your conscience and switch to linux, or switch ur old one to linux and compare the sexiness of beryl to aero
