i keep getting a "serial presence detect" error on my 133mhz board when i add two sticks of 66mhz ram in slots 2 and 3. slot 1 has 133mhz ram. all are 128 meg sticks. the system will not boot with the 66 ram but will with the 133 by itself.

If your MB supports a 66mhz FSB, then yes, BUT setting your FSB to 66 would slow your computer way down by half (unless you are running @ a 66 fsb now).

i suppose this question comes from my being told that a 133 mbd cannot be dropped down below 100fsb. is that the case?

Faster memory can be run at a slower speed with no problems. Running slower memory at a faster speed is iffy. Memory is just like a processor, underclocking it doesn't hurt it while overclocking is a hit or miss affair. In fact I now get PC133 for all my PC100 systems just because it is cheaper.

In your case, running 66mhz memory at 133mhz is asking a lot.
