Looking to make the Jump to linux but have one HUGE holdup. I am loving the PCLinux 2007 distro that uses KDE as it's desktop but cannot get Kpilot or Jpilot to sync with my treo 680 and Kontact. Running Ubuntu 7 Gnome pilot picks it right up and syncs with evoution flawlessly. Can I run Gnome Pilot on a KDE system?

I'm sure you can with your distro, as long as you have the required dependencies in place.

I'm sure PCLinux will let you, its debian based, so it should install everything you need.

The easiest way is to install whatever gnome-based application you need to use and your package manager should figure out the required base gnome packages to install. You won't have Gnome installed, however you will have the base Gnome libraries that the GTK apps can utilize so that they run properly.

Works both ways. So yeah, it'll install the necessary libraries and other packages required to run that application.
