Can I run different content on two displays?

I have a 7800 GT, and I'd like to be able to run on both my TV and my monitor. I have a free DVI port and a free VIVO port. First off, can anyone suggest which of these two ports I should buy a component adapter for? Secondly, I'd like to be able to do different things on each display, for example watch a movie on the TV (played from my computer) and pretend to do homework on the monitor. I have no idea if this is even possible, can anyone help me out?

So you want to run dual monitors with your current monitor and a TV? Yes its possible to run dual monitors and yes it is possible to do different things on each like watch a movie and browse the web on the other. But, if you use a regular TV as your second monitor its going to suck as a monitor because the resolution is going to be pretty low.
