I was wondering if I can run Call Of Duty 4: Modern Warfare on fairly good settings(Good enough so I have a smooth frame rate and not much lag) . SPECS:

HP P6110T Series desktop. (Windows Vista)

Intel(R) Pentium(R) Dual-Core processor E5400 [2.7GHz, 2MB L2, 800MHz FSB] Processor.

3GB DDR2-800MHz SDRAM [2 DIMMs] Ram.

320GB 7200 rpm SATA 3Gb/s hard drive

512MB NVIDIA GeForce G210 [DVI, HDMI, VGA]

HP w1858 18.5-inch 16:9 HD Ready Widescreen Monitor
......................................?
What do you think? Thanks in advance..

You might be able to play at lowest settings, but you're really gonna want to upgrade the GPU. That one is only marginally better than integrated graphics I believe. Luckily the monitor is only 1366x768

That said you don't need to spend a ton on a GPU to be able to play COD4/5 well. I just built a Dell with a e5200/4gb ram/ATI HD4670 for my uncle to play COD4 and WaW on and he's very satisfied. You already have a better processor and enough ram, just a GPU upgrade and you'd be good to go.

Some options for you...

9600GSO for $35 AR, with free CoD: WaW(if you dont already have it) - http://www.newegg.com/Product/...x?Item=N82E16814121319
It is a slightly older model, but it's only $55/$35, comes with a free game worth like $40, and will blow away that G210 or whatever it is. Should be able to max out or nearly max CoD at that res. It does however require a 6 pin pci-e power connector, which your PSU probably doesn't have. If it has two unused molex (4 pin) connector though, you can use an adapter

4670 for $60 AR - http://www.newegg.com/Product/...x?Item=N82E16814161252
More current model than 9600GSO. Should run cooler, definitely uses less power so you won't have to bother with a pci-e connector or adapter. Has a nice dual slot cooler to exhaust the hot air instead of putting it into the case. Performs about on par with the 9600GSO I think, but is more expensive and no free game. Should still be able to max or nearly max out COD

4770 for $70 AR - http://www.newegg.com/Product/...x?Item=N82E16814161252
New model, 40nm process so very low power/low heat. Much better performing than previous cards, no power connector needed, but the one for $70 is open box (I've had great luck with open box items). If you don't want to go open box you'd be looking at ~$110 if you can find one in stock

The G10 is a just released low end card comparable to the 9500 series. You will be able to play COD4 with your settings turned down a bit.

More like <9400GT. G210 has the same 16 shaders though at ~30mHz faster, but half the memory bus of 9400. 9500GT has double the shaders, double the mem bus, and ddr3

SO..Is the "9400" part of the name the speed of it(Like total VRAM?). Sorry, I'm a newb.. If I'm going to buy a better card..Should I go with Nvidia? If not what are some good manufacturers? Thanks..

I really hope you aren't paying $559.99 for this pc. You could build a way better one for much cheaper.

The name of the GPU (9400, 4670, etc) doesn't relate directly to the specs. When comparing cards you can't only look at the specs, they can be misleading. A GPU with a 750mHz core clock might get spanked by a different GPU at 600mHz core, because the architecture is vastly different. The 9500GT might run it OK, but I'd step up to a 4670 like I linked above

Oh, have you not bought the PC yet? I was thinking you already have it

If thats the case... let us know your budget and what the PC will be used for besides gaming and we'll do the heavy lifting for you ;)

Would you consider building the PC yourself if it would get you more performance for the same money?

I want to buy one for 600$ or under..And I want a decent display like the one that I sad before. I would use it for surfing the web, Music managing and gaming. I would build a computer if it will actually work(And perform nicely) lol. I would need lots of help about with what to buy and how to set it up. Thanks so much for all the help by the way! :)

you have three options-

1) spend a little more and buy a decent gaming-oriented prebuilt. i remember seeing a cyberpower on sale for about $600 that included a phenom II and 4850, but that was sans monitor.
2) buy a supercheap storebought with a decent processor and memory. swap out the power supply and put in a graphics card.
3) build it yourself.

most of us like number three. you could also do number two, but stick in a low power card like a 4650. performance will not be optimal, but far better than integrated, and you're a lot less likely to stress an OEM psu.

cyberpower makes a decent little prefab that's fairly competitive with building your own, if you want to go that route. their sub-$600 models leave a bit to be desired, though.

You definitely need to do research and be prepared to troubleshoot. Also, have you built a computer before?

I'd go for brblx's number two option, considering your budget and needs. Pick up a Dell studio desktop as configured for $369 (e5200, 2gb ram, 500gb HD, vista 64 bit, G45 integrated) then head to newegg and grab 2gb of DDR2 for $25, a 4670 for ~$60, and a nice Acer X223Wbd (22", 1680x1050) for $150 and you have a much better setup for about $610

But since Dell likely will charge tax and shipping you could step the monitor down to a 19" 1440x900 for about $110

Yea Yh125d is right . I played through Call of Duty 4 with my Pent 4 and 7800gs system twice allready at 1280x1024 and low settings. A 9800gt or 4830 should be able to play at med/high settings with that system easily.

I have not built one before..I have taken many apart though..haha. Will a dell studio base config have a good enough processor? Should I choose and better one when customizing it?

Is it worth adding 70$ to the base config and get a 2.8GHz processor(2.5GHz comes with it)? and should I get 3gigs of RAM instead of 2?

The studio base model comes with an e5200, which is a good processor and will handle fine. The setup that I recommended with the studip+ 4670 is nearly identical to the box I did for my uncle so he could play COD4/5 with, and he couldn't be more pleased, and he's even playing at 1920x1080. At a lower res it will run even better. As far as the ram goes, don't upgrade through dell. going from 2gb to 4gb costs like $70 through dell, but you could buy a 2gb ram set from newegg for 25 and put it in yourself

Those monitors basically cost the same, but the Acer is 3.5" bigger and higher resolution. Definitely get the acer

go to dell small business and configure a vostro 220. you can get an e7400 with 3gb and a 20" monitor for $470. considering that's about a $150 monitor, you'd custom build about the same pc for $320. add in a 4670 and call it a day. if it's got a pcie plug, you could try a 4770 or 4850, but it's probably only got a 300w psu. for the price, you could afford to spend $40 on an antec or corsair psu, though.

edit- or do the above, if you want to build it. that is quite a strong processor for the price. i can't see spending only $25 on a claimed 585w psu, it would probably work but god knows what's in it. i think it's worth spending $15 more.

here you go, here's the guts of one of the PSU's in the same line as the hp585d-

OCZ makes excellent PSU's.

Here is a review for the 550W:

http://www.cpu3d.com/review/79...-psu/introduction.html

In our tests, both power efficiency and stability were very good with very little voltage fluctuations. Certified 80Plus, the OCZ Fatal1ty 550W can reach upto 82% power efficient, which is extremely good. The power supply has 2 separate +12V rails @ 25A each, which is more than enough to power-up the most demanding of components. In fact, during our "Peltier 240W Test" at full load, the voltage on the +12V rail only dropped to +11.84V, which is very good considering the maximum output reached 400W. This was expected during heavy loads.
