Can I run an XP2400+ @333 FSB, no overclock, without raising voltage?

Just ordered an Asus A7N8X nForce2 motherboard from Newegg, along with some Corsair PC2700 CAS2 memory. I want a CPU that I can run at 333 FSB, with synchronous memory. But I don't want to spend $300+ for one of the "official" 333 fsb processors.

The 2400+ normally runs at 15 x 133, for a 2.0 GHz clock. Can I just unlock the CPU and run it at 12x166 for the same 2.0 GHz clock? It seems to me that I should be able to do this without upping the voltage and without the need for extreme cooling, because the CPU is running at it's rated speed. Does this sound right? I have reliability concerns, so I'd like to run the CPU at the rated voltage.

And if I wanted to run the CPU at say 13 x 166, for a 2.167 GHz clock (same as an XP 2700+), any idea of the likelihood of this overclock? 50%? 80%? Better?

Thanks!

Steve

you should have no prob running it at up to 2.2 - 2.3ghz or even as hi as 2.4ghz (no guarantees but it is likely)
upping it to 333fsb without changing the mult would be about 2.5ghz it seems you would need "extreme cooling" or something to run at that right now
but yeah as long as the chip is running at it's default clock it could care less what it's fsb is as long as the mem and chipset can handle it

have fun

here is a good database of some of the maximum overclocks that are being done with extreme cooling methods
just so you can get an idea of what these chips have been pushed to if yur curious http://www.vr-zone.com/guides/AMD/TBred/

but yeah you would definately have no problem if it wasn't an overclock and you were just lowering the mult and upping the fsb
