I am trying to get a little more life from my son's computer. It is has a FIC VA503+ motherboard with an AMD k6-2 350Mhz cpu. I tried to install a new AMD K6-3 450 Mhz cpu but the bios won't recognize it. I flashed a new bios JE438 but the cpu comes up as a 66Mhz but the POST will not continue. I went to the FIC FAQ's for this board and found buried among the questions the note tha boards labelled 4503 or E0037 are able to support the AMD K6-3 450. However my board is 4502. Does anyone know of a fix. Thanks

Do a search for: je4330 at FIC's website. And install this bios. This ought to cure it. I just went thru this when I tried to install a K6III 450+ in my 503+ . However, I have board 1.2a and
the E-0037 sticker, which is located near the notrhbridge chip. This bios is not listed in their bios page. I found it by lookig thru their faq's page, and saw it mentioned at AMD Zone.

Thank You

I downloaded the je4330 bios. It worked. The board recognizes the K6-3 450Mhz cpu and boots up fine. It tests out 1.5 times as fast as the older k6-2 350 chip. Many Many Thanks

gekedad,
Tried overclocking it yet? I'm running my at 550. Tried 600, but windows wanted to squawk about it, so back to 550. Nice upgrade for the price.

Yes the one I installed at my computer at work is running great at 550/2.0volts. I haven"t tried 600 yet, but to get 600 you set the motherboard at a 2x multiplier. The CPU's were re-mapped to see this as 6x (6x100mhz)
