Can I run a S-vid TV out into a computer monitor?

I have a ti200 with an Svid TV out and I was wondering if there was a way to convert it into a VGA hookup to attack a second monitor on that connection. I have a 17", but am planning on getting a Samsung 19 inch soon, and I would like to be able to use my old monitor as a second display. Any idea what kind on adapters there are for this and where I could get them?

I don't think the TI200 supports dual monitor. If it doesn't then it's useless to try, since even if you hook it up, both monitor will be displaying the same stuff anyways. The resolution will be pretty low on the monitor that's hook up to the S-video through converter and stuff , so it's no go either way. ;)

Agreed, not a great solution to your needs.

Suggest 2 ramdac vid cards likes of twinview (geforce) hydravision (radeon) or matrox.

I guess a cheaper solution is to buy a 2nd cheapo pci vid card to connect your 2nd monitor.

I didn't realize that a ti200 couldn't do this. The geforce2MX I got my parents could even handle that, though it is also an S video. I guess I'll have to do a PCI card. I got an old one or 3 lying around. Is this a software limitation or a hardware one? I just put on the new 27.40 detonator and it did enable N-view on my system.

Cards with two monitor support have 2 ramdac chips to provide separate vid output to 2 displays, a primary ramdac(very fast) & a 2nd output ramdac(usually much slower clock speed than primary).

It's a hardware limitation.

Reason mx (value) geforce is the only card with twinview (2 ramdac) feature is so that nvidia can compete with matrox cards at multi monitor solution & same with ati until 8500 came out.
