Can I run a power supply without an internal fan

I have an oem atx power supply that has a rather loud 92mm fan attached underneath and outside of the metal enclosure. The ps is welded shut so I can't open it up to get to the power connector for the fan. Is it possible to cut the wires close to the fan and then run the ps with a 92mm 3pin connected to the mobo. This would provide adequate cooling for the ps but I've never tried running a ps without an internally powered fan attached.

It'll run without an internally powered power supply... Just make sure the fan is powered one way or another, though.
