Yes you can. It might not run in dual-channel though but chances are good that it will.

If they are both using same chipset and rated for similar timings you shoudl be fine..I thinkit is rare they wont work in dual channel mode..NOt saying it cant happen but it is unlikely...

Dual channel is like 3-5% with games enjoying it the most...

You should be fine as long as each stick uses the same memory chips. The benefit depends on your CPU\motherboard but for the most part it won't help an AMD system all that much, but will help an Intel system more.

yeah, little speed boost as far as I know.
I thought about buying two sticks of 512 seperately instead of 2x512. But I found 2x512 Corsair Value Select at canadacomputers.com for $127 CDN. Pretty hard to beat for a Canadian web site and Canadian price.

Since they started accepting credit cards, I think these dudes are going to be the king of online until newegg comes to Canada.

Bear in mind that just because it's from the same manufacturer and has the same part number does not mean it will be identical. Sometimes you will get different chips on the PCB, manufacturers do switch around, especially with value RAM - they just get whatever was cheap at the time, since because RAM is a commodity the price fluctuates like gas (except the price tends to go down over time, not up). So try and make sure you get the same actual chips.

If you wanted to be sure you could always get the 1GB now, then sell it later and buy a 2x1GB kit. You'd be out a bit more, but you'd be guaranteed dual-channel operation. Up to you.

I have never, in any scenario, encountered problems running a pair of the same memory in dual channel, kit or no kit.

Most of the "matched pairs" stuff is garbage. Just dont mix up different sticks.

As I said before, I'm running a pair of them in my A8N-E (same board you've got) right now. Them being from Crucial, who is an arm of Micron, the chances of getting wildly-different modules are pretty low but you can order an "official" matched pair from Crucial.com if you want: A8N-E listing at Crucial Price is a bit higher, though.
