Piece of the Harddrives sata port embedded in sata cable
http://imajr.com/100_2748_171384

I purchased a 320 gig Seagate sata hdd in february, although it had some of the "typical" although mild issues, like an occasional chirp known to happen with these harddrives, I didn't Rma it.

Recently, I have been upgrading my system, selling old parts etc, I planned to use the harddrive in the new build.

I have known that sata connectors can be slightly flimsy, so i always took time and care when connecting them.

BUT recently, while taking the cable off (probably the first time i did since i purchased it) i felt a mild bit of resistance, so i gently pulled the cable and it came out, but in the process it took the sata connector off the harddrive, the plastic sata connector on the hdd became stuck in the sata cable, while the copper pins stayed perfectly in place :/

So now im left with a hdd that can only be "jury rigged" into place and sata cable with my harddrives sata port stuck in it. I've never RMA'd anything before, and im assuming this is something i would need to take up with Seagate.

im just curious if this is something people would consider RMA worthy, any help would be appreciated.

Why don't you contact Seagate to see if they'll repair it? You won't know if it's RMA'able until you ask them.

I had a raptor that did the same thing, broke out the trusty JB weld and glued it on, works just fine (in case they wont).

I haven't had the pleasure of breaking a SATA connector, yet, but when I do, I won't consider it an RMA-able problem. My fault, I'll take the rap.

I broke a WD 120GB SATA connector the same exact way. I pulled apart the cable and super glued the connector back around the pins, let it dry, then installed a new cable...but you can never remove the new cable without bringing the L-bracket with it 🙁

Not true, i removed a sata cable from a seagate 320 as well and the connector stayed inside the cable, I've been doing this for 10 years or so and didnt man handle it. I'm sure it was a fault of the manufacture
