can I request that a thread be locked?

You got the right forum. If you think a thread looks bad, you can post it here. You could also pm a mod, it's basically a matter of personal preference.

thanks for the answer. I always feel scared when I post in here, let alone start a new thread. It is a fear of not wanting to upset the anandtech "gods" who live here.

Ya, you have to be careful. If you yell Hey Mods! You may startle them, and when they fall out of their tree, they could be hurt. That would be a instant banning for you

The Mods to not check this forum as frequently as they do their PM's. I would just PM them.

The Mods to not check this forum as frequently as they do their PM's. I would just PM them.

The mods have stated that they have no preference as to being PM'd or an issue being posted here. I notice they are much more vigilant about Forum Issues than before. However, posting here does invite public comment and discussion.

Notice that the thread in question got locked the same day - so it's pretty effective here.
