Can I replace this CDRW/DVD player with this DVDRW burner in a ThinkPad T61?

I have several Thinkpad T61 which have CD burner and DVD player. I'd like to have the ability to burn DVDs as well as CDs. The question is can the current Fru P/N: 39T2687 CD burner and DVD player be replaced with the IBM Super Multi-Burner Ultraslim DVDRW(UJ-862) For Thinkpad.

I removed the drive from the T61 to obtain the FRU number. I've been googling interchangability for 2 hours without luck. This link is selling the drive that I currently have:

This link is selling the Multi Burner DVDRW (UJ-82) that I'd like to replace it with:

Is these parts interchangable? Is this a legitimate upgrade or are they 2 different animals that don't mix?
