Can I replace my CD-ROM drive?

I bought a LG 48x CD-ROM drive from staples and a month ago and everything is fine, but a couple days ago it suddenly began to produce loud noise when read disc, very loud. I contacted with staples but they said they only reture items bought within 30 days.
Could you tell me is there any possibility I could change it from LG? If I can not, I will repair it by myself, that will be interesting for me, but dangerous for the drive. : (

Buy another lg drive from staples and pull a switch🙁 Unethical but typically, rma from manufactureres can take quite a while.

Better check Staples return policy before you pull a switch. Some places will not refund money, but will give store credit or another even swap.

Most Manufacturers will ship you a new drive and then let you ship the defective drive back after you install the replacement. You may need to give them a credit card number so they can be assured you will send the defect back.

I doubt its defective. Every 48x IDE CDROM that I have heard is like a Jet Engine. They just spin fast and produce loud friggin noise. Better IDE CDROMS cost a lot more and dampen the sound. Kenwood for instance, they have a 72x that is not as loud, but it costs more $$$.

yes, every high speed cdrom is noisey, but I could judge between the "normal" noise and the "defective" noise, when I put the disc into the drive, the noise make me worried if
the drive is going to turn my disc into pieces... that is terrible.

so i have 2 choice, contact with the manufacturer or replace one with staples, which one is better?
