can I remove the KT7A Northbridge heatsink without removing the mobo from the case?

Probably is possible, but why take the risk? It will be much easier by just taking it out. That's why it's really nice to have a removable mobo tray.

done it. for its worth, don't. big risks. might mess up the plastic holders, chance to ES the chipset and all other parts nearby and putting it back was a pain. mine survived through the ordeal but, will yours?

yeah I was thinking of putting some arctic silver under there.. not sure if it has anything at all. but if I could damage it then I wouldn't want to try..

take the mobo out to do it,m pinch the plastic parts together with hemostats. i put silver grease on mine and make it to 158fsb.
