can i reinstall from XP SP2 but use the original key (XP SP1)?

i will be buying xp pro sp2 for a new build. can i use it to reinstall on other machines that have SP1 now, i would activate from the original key from the sp1 version. all versions are oem from newegg.

i would do this to save a little time and not upgrade to sp2 on pc's that need a reinstall.
 
If it doesn't work, you should be able to slipstream SP2 into the SP1 CD's. There are plenty of online tutorials on how to do this.
