I was dragging and dropping between folders in WinXP and accidentally replaced a new file with an old file!!!
I haven't shut down the computer yets and still have the two folders open. Edit, Undo won't work. Is there any way I can restore all of my files to how they were the last time the computer was shut down?? Is there a tool to find the old document that was replaced? Please help!

There's no way to undo overwriting a file. Whether you've rebooted or not isn't going to make any difference. If it's a Windows system file there might be a backup copy, but if it's just one of your own, you'd have to have your own backup of it.

Try Regedit in RUN, and export it.... save it, and if upon boot, you have any probs, go back to regedit/ hit import... reboot, all fixed. There is always a fix.

Using an old export of the registry won't do anything at all. The file's still been overwritten

Aside from which, a change to the registry is going to be reflected in the exported copy anyway, so importing it wouldn't make any difference.
