If I take a HD from XP NTFS box and slave it to a Win 98 box will I be able to copy the files (MP3s) to the Fat32 drive?

Nope Win9x cannot read or write to a NTFS partition.

Third party software like ntfswin can access these partitions, but the OS alone can not do it.

Not right away but take a look here and here. Those are freeware utitlities that let you read from a NTFS partition in 98 and DOS. I've never used the first one, but try it and if it doesn't work, then the second one I know works 'cause Ive used it before.

Just hook up a network cable and copy them over the wire. It's the easiest way I can think of to get files form an NTFS box into a 98 box without resorting to software f-ckery.
