can I re-use my retail XP-1600's cooler w/ faster CPU

I have a retail XP-1600 which came with the heatsink and fan. I am incredibly cheap - if I buy a OEM XP-2500 and use the 1600's heatsink and fan is it going to fry the faster CPU?

I wouldn't recommend it ... the stock cooler that came with my Palomino XP2000+ was woefully underpowered for that chip (operating temps in the mid-60s under idle conditions). The stock cooler that comes with the Barton XP2500+ is far more substantial, and one is currently sitting on that old Palomino 2000+ .... with idle temps now in the low 40s. So I don't think an old HSF would be such a good idea on the new Bartons!
