You can use hdparm to set power management on the virtual drive. After that it would probably be up to the controller for what it's going to do with the power management commands.

The relevant options you will want to use will probably be -S and -B.

edit: oops, just realized you are using software RAID. In that case set each drive and there shouldn't be a problem.

Beyond making the discs sleep, you might even just set the whole box to go to sleep or power off
during off-hours or whatever. You can use real time clock alarm wake-up or wake-on-lan to wake it up
or soft-power it on whenever desired.
