Is there a way I can setup a CD to run as a boot disc with fdisk on it, because I have a laptop here that has no floppy drive and who's WinXP setup has been completely mangled up, and I basically need to wipe everything and start anew. Quick reply would be very much appreciated! thanks!

yes - either get the ultimate boot disk or a linux live cd - either will be able to boot the computer and partition your drive

I just remembered there is also freedos

If you're going to wipe everything anyway you can just do that from XP's setup. There's no reason to bother building a boot disk just to fdisk.

the problem is that the WinXP setup is stuck trying to install. It crashes when I try and do it newly. I managed it with ubcd, wiped it all and did a fresh install and it worked 🙂

Good move! When you download the UBCD ISO file, you just burn it and go. No need to build anything. Besides, it has countless other tools and utilities that can help in many other situations. I consider UBCD to be an essential tool in anyone's box.

Cleverhandle - try it - you might like it. 🙂
