Can I put a HD 3870 X2 in a PCI-E (non 2.0) slot?

Topic says it all.

I am building a budget OC system and I have my eye on the abit P35-E.

It only has 1 PCI-1 x 16 slot, but if I can use this card thats not a biggie.

It'll work, except people seem to say that it actually takes advantage of the increased bandwidth of PCI-E 2.0

It won't degrade performance....most of the reviews were done in PCI-E 1.0 mobos.
