Can I put a 1600mhz ram into a mobo supporting only 1333mhz

combination

hi guys, a newbie question. I got gskill sniper series ram G.SKILL Sniper Series DDR3 1600MHz (PC3-12800) 8GB (2 x 4GB) Dual Channel Kit .

Can I put this into my mobo h67 that supports only Support for DDR3 1333/1066/800 MHz memory modules?

Is this safe and will it downgrade the speed itself?

thanks

yes as long as its good quality 1.5V ram it will work fine. they always leave profiles in for slower speeds better to be safe than RMA. avoid cheap ram that is marked > 1.5V for ddr3

Thanks, I added the ram and it went smooth. Btw the greater the ram voltage i.e >1.5, the cheaper the quality?

DDR3 standards are for 1.5V RAM. Anything over 1.5V just means it is running over spec. Just like you can add voltage to a CPU to OC it, you can increase voltage to RAM to OC it as well.

All the DDR3 RAM running 1.6 or 1.65 is basically factory overclocked.
