Can I power up my mobo without a processor?

OK I posted this in the motherboards forum and got no response. Hopefully there's a lot more warmer bodies in General Hardware.

Got the mobo, processor is coming 2 days later. I have all the components but just want to test and power up the mobo. Can I do this without a processor installed?

You can apply power, and check if the LED lights up, but it won't turn on.

Are you sure that's safe to do?

The better question, I think, is why would you?

Edit: no, you cant do the things you listed in your other thread.
