Can I plug a UPS into an extension cord?

The only grounded outlet in my apartment is 20ft away from my TV/receiver/Blu-ray system. I bought this UPS. Can I buy an extension cord and plug the UPS into the extension cord, and the extension cord into the only grounded outlet in my apartment? Is that safe?

That doesn't seem safe. Maybe an extension cord into the UPS which is plugged into the grounded outlet would be a better choice.

As long as the extension cord can handle the current draw of the ups, it should be fine.

So don't cheap out on the extension cord.

That extension cord is actually overdoing it. The UPS is rated at 750 VA or about 6½ amps. Could consume as much as 8 amps allowing for some efficiency loss. Your wall outlet is probably run from a 15 amp beaker. The 12 Gauge extension cord is good for 20 amps, so it is the heaviest piece of wiring in your power supply to the entertainment system.

Will a 25ft 12 Gauge be enough? I'm thinking of this cable

that extension cord looks like it will work. as one poster mentioned it may be heavier than needed but, IMHO, its better to have extra than not enough especially in the wiring department. Since the plug is rated for 15 amps then this will do the job nicely.

I bought a 7 foot powerstrip from microcenter with a 4 foot cord on it and found it to be the best choice in the living room setup.
