Can I pick up a package at a local UPS station before it's being delivered to my house?

I used UPS tracking to track some computer stuffs that I bought. I saw the package arrived at the local station a couple of days now, and they haven't delivered it yet.

I'm interested too....my package got an 'exception' message on UPS.com - someone forgot to put my office suite # on it.

I once got a message from UPS that if I didn't pick up my package at their local station they would send it back. Guess they tried to drop it off but I wasn't home.
UPS/FedEx can legally only keep the package for a couple days and then it must get sent back to the sender if they can't leave it at its destination.

I just called ups (800-PICK-UPS) - They said i could either pick up my package monday at the local distrib center, or wait and have it redelivered on tuesday.

As a general rule of thumb, no you can't. Unless there was an exception as in NccOps case, UPS must make at least one delivery attempt before they will allow you to pick up a package from the distribution center.

U must tell them you want it held at the distribution center before you can go there and pick it up. Otherwise, it will be out in the truck for 3 delivery attempts (3 days)... then they just leave it there for you to pick up over the course of 2 weeks (in my experience). Then they send it back.

Yup bunker's correct. The same thing goes with fedex and usps, not sure about airborne and other services. I called fedex and ups once with the same question and they said it's their policy to try to deliver at least once first. I guess they make you "pay" for not using their faster services them bastards...
