I would like to burn some files to a CD-R and have it password protected. Does anyone know if this is possible?
Thanks

Thanks for the reply. What is PGP?

I'd like to have it so when you pop the CD in it prompts you for a password but don't know if this is possible. I belive it is with a ZIP disk so that might be a better option. Any other thoughts?

Open up notepad and type these lines:

[autorun]
open=setup.exe
icon=setup.exe

Now save this file as "autorun.inf"

Put this file at the root of your CD-ROM. You can replace "setup.exe" with the name of your self-extracting Zip file or self-extracting PGP file - make sure this file is also located at the root of the CD-ROM.

hope this helps! :)

Yeap you can protect you files just use winzip or winrar to password protect them and zip them up.
Simple enough, dont forget the password!

Winzip is pretty easy to brute force, I think winrar is a little better (but not as good as PGP)

Archive proggies with passwords ain't gonna keep out anyone but a casual lookie-loo. They also make file access cumbersome. Use encryption like PGP. The Desktop Security package (free for personal use methinks) includes PGPdisk which does exactly what you want. You create a container file and copy all yer schtuff to it then burn the file to CD-R. When opened (automatically or manually) you will be prompted for your passphrase and it will become a virtual drive (D: or whatever you like). Of course this can be done with packet-writing software like DirectCD to CD-RW too.
