Can I pair a GTX260 with an 8800GT? How will that work?

I see the vanilla 260 is 259.00 bucks with a 40 dollar rebate on newegg. Mighty tempting. My 8800GT still seems adequate. The only way I could justify dropping 220 on another card at this time is if I could pair it with the 8800GT.

I've never ran two cards before and I was just curious how it works.

I've got an abit a9wd max board. Two PCI-E x 16 (no 2.0 support) 1@ 16x and 1@ 8x. It's an intel chipset but part of the reason I bought it is because it has unofficial SLI support. (comes with an SLI bridge)

Do you think I could run both cards together? It's really not worth the extra heat/juice if the 8800GT only gets to be a physX card.

Actually you can't just plug the card in and expect it to act as a physx possessor. You will need to download the phisx drivers and enable the card for that function.

Just grab another 8800GT for $70-$100 and have an SLI system that's faster in most cases than a GTX 280! I love my 2 8800GTs!
