Can I overclock this system to 2.5-2.6GHz reliably?

I bought the new Asus SLI board, winchester 3200, zalman 7000, 2-6600gt's, Corsair VS1GBKIT400 1GB Kit DDR400 PC3200 CAS2.5 Value Select Memory, going to get a 500+watt PSU. CAn I OC this system to 2.5 or 2.6GHz reliably? What settings should I try first for FSB and memory? I am replacing a Thunderbird 1400MHz, so I want to make as much difference as I can but I have never OC.

Should I just buy a SATA 7200 Seagate or spend the money for the raptor 74Gb? I play lots of games, surf the net and play around with family photos.

You can never guarantee an OC, but you have a decent chance of hitting 2.5. Set HTT multi to 3x and increase the FSB to 250, as well as setting an appropriate RAM divider. you will then slowly increase the OC, and try increasing vcore if you seem to hit a limit.

1) Most likely you will get to 2.5-6 with that setup. But remember with OCing YMMV
2) I would just go with the 7200rpm because IMO the Raptor's aren't worth the price premium you pay for them

Is the difference for my use on the hard drives mainly just load time, boot time etc..? If so then the 7200's are way more storage.

Yes, load times will be a little bit faster with a 10krpm hdd but only by a couple of seconds. Go with the bigger storage
