I have been thinking about overclockong my AMD K2 450, my moherboard would allow for it but I have never overclocked a AMD processor before, I get the feeling they are to hot, even with a good heatsink, Help...!

They do get hot, if you are gonna overclock only expect an extra 50mhz. Its worth a shot if you have nothing else to do.

If you want to venture into the overclocking world you will have more success with a K6-2+ . They are built using the .18 micron technology, have on-die cache and run well. Try a 500, set the mobo to just 2x and the cpu will run at 6x giving 600 if your mobo supports 100fsb.

You will get 500 Mhz without any problem. 550 can be reached with some tweaking. Some K6-2 450 can do 560/600 with good cooling (sometime with heat cap removed). Increasing voltage (+0.2/+0.3v) is necessary to get system stable.

What do you mean ? Must have a 26+CFM fan and thermal paste. Case cooling with additional case fans helps a lot. Lapping CPU & heatsink enhance thermla interface betwwen CPU and heatsink (and so, you don't have to remove the heat cap).

Thank you for the info, although i am not new to overclocking, i have always overclocked Intel CPU's, I used your info well and my PC is stable and running at 500MHz,

THANKS
