I have never overclocked any CPU before, but since encoding to h.264 video takes me so much time and I don't have cash to get a nice i7, I'd like to give it a try.

I have a Q6700 sitting on an Intel D975XBX2 motherboard, which I remember reading that it's rather difficult to overclock. Can anybody here tell me if it is possible, and how would I do it? I would like to know how many Ghz I can overclock to to have a stable system but without having to buy a liquid cooling solution, just with the fans I have? I can add the auxiliary side fan if necessary.

Thanks

BadAxe 2 is an excellent overclocking board. It is not as user-friendly as some other boards in that you may need the access to the "watchdog" jumper frequently (at failed overclock attempt), but otherwise it is a rock solid board.

Your CPU runs @ 2.66 GHz (10x266), and in my opinion 3.33 GHz (10x333) is a realistic goal unless you're using the stock cooler. You may need to raise vNB and vFSB by 0.1~0.2V. Keep an eye on memory configuration which is in a different section of the BIOS.
