Hi guys. Sorry, I've did alot of research but I can't seem to figure some things out. I currently have a sapphire x1800xt video card. I would like to have 1080p output (getting the big westinghouse monitor soon) but to my knowledge it will only output 1080i. I know since the new driver package you dont have to buy a master card for crossfire, so does this mean I can buy a newer card that will output 1080p and be able to run it along with what I have now in software crossfire? If so what are some of the cheaper cards I can do this with? Thanks for the help!:)

Well, I know it's not HDCP compliant. And after going under hdtv support in the catalyst control center, it only gives the option of 720p or 1080i. The difference of 1080i and 1080p is important since ill be using a large lcd tv/monitor for my computer monitor.

The limited resolution options apply to TV encoder standards and so would not apply to VGA or DVI/HDMI if the display can act like a monitor and accept whatever is output -so just make sure it can accept a 1080p signal without any overscan issues 'n' such. In general I think the Westinghouse 1080p TV/monitors have been okay in this regard.

I think I understand now. Since the westinghouse acts as a monitor, after I set the resolution, it should be displaying at 1080p automatically correct?
edit: If I use a dvi to hdmi cable.

Yeah, it should literally show up as a monitor and probably have the same common and custom resolution options available up to its maximum 1920x1080 -as opposed to showing up as a TV when connected via composite/S-Video/component and only having their related NTSC or PAL and HDTV resolutions to select from.

I know there are some Westinghouse owners around here so hopefully someone with experience will chime in. What model are you getting? I suppose you are already aware of the big threads at avsforum?

Yes, Just set the resolution to 1920x1080 and you'll be fine. You're confusing HDTV signals/outputs with resolutions of a monitor. The monitor can accept 480 i/p, 720 i/p and 1080 i/p signals, but for computer use it just set the resolution and you are done.
